It was five o'clock in the evening. The sky was clear. Light cold winds were blowing. We were playing cricket with friends in a small ground in the locality.

I am talking about a small field because it was not a playing field but a house-building ground, around which a 2-feet high wall was abandoned for the time being.

I had a bat in my hand and my friend was throwing the ball. The ball came quickly to me and I hit the ball hard to hit it for a boundary.

The ball went straight inside Pammi Aunty's house. Pammi Aunty was the sweetest and best aunty in my locality. She loved all the children of the neighborhood very much.

He also has two sons and a daughter who live in Madras with their family and do some government job there.

By the way, they wanted to take Pammi Aunty there too, but Aunty did not want to leave home and go to Madras. Due to which aunty stays here and gives the house on rent.

I went inside Pammi Aunty's house to get the ball. I was running my eyes here and there, then my eyes fell on a girl who was keeping clothes to dry in the sun on the terrace.

The rays of the sun were falling on her cheeks due to which her cheeks were blooming like a sunflower.

The yellow dupatta was blowing with slight gusts of wind and the braided hair was touching her cheeks coming down on her cheeks. As soon as I saw him, I felt like the whole world has stopped and time has stopped at the same place.

My gaze was not moving away from her face. She was very lovingly squeezing the cloth, taking out water from it and putting the cloth in the sun.

Suddenly her eyes met me or I misunderstood that meeting, I don't know, but she was shocked to see me. But I kept looking at him.

She put the cloth in the sun and went away staring at me with angry eyes. But I remained standing like a statue. Till then my friends had also come to me there. Everyone was surprised.

" Buddy ! You could not even get a ball for so long? Amazing brother! ′′ A friend of mine said showing displeasure.

" O dear ! I am still searching.

While saying this to me, Pammi aunty came there and said, “What happened son?

"Aunty, our balls have come here, I am looking for them but cannot find them." A friend of mine said.

"Wait, I see."

Aunty came to us after a few minutes with the ball in her hand. After this all the friends started scolding me and said, "Friend, you don't even see a ball."

Now who will explain to these webgoons that instead of the ball, I saw a moon and I was looking at it for so long.

Well, I came to the ground with friends. Now I was definitely playing cricket but my attention was fixed on that girl.

Who was she after all? I had never seen him before in this neighborhood or in that building. Inquired about it from some of my friends. One of my friend Aditya told that she has come to this locality only yesterday, her father is a clerk in a bank and before that they used to live in Koderma.

This much information about him was enough for me. I reached Pammi Aunty's house the next day. That girl used to live on the 2nd floor of his own house. The good thing was that Aunty Pammi had also kept a flat for herself on the same floor in which she used to live.

I was going through the corridor towards his room. Suddenly I was shocked to see him once again. She was carrying a cup of tea in her hand. She looked at me for a moment and then that too went towards Pammi Aunty's room.

After a few minutes, both of us were sitting in front of the aunt.

This is Smita. Shifted here only yesterday. Aunty told me about him without asking anything.

′′ Hello ′′ after listening to aunty, she looked at me and said.

Instead of his hello, I also said hello with a slight smile. I swear, her eyes were brighter than the rays of the morning sun, her lips were pinker than a rose and her cheeks were no less red than a Kashmiri apple.

I was looking at him with a slant. Then his eyes fell on my face. I quickly turned my gaze to the other side. After sitting there for some time, I went to my house.

I had gone alone to Pammi Aunty's house but while coming back I had brought Smita's picture in my heart.

Now it had been 2-3 months since he came here. Both of us had also become friends. Now both of us sometimes used to play badminton together on his terrace.

I didn't know whether I was more than a friend to him or not. But it was certain that she was more than a friend to me.

I started loving her. Now it was becoming difficult to stay even for a moment without meeting or talking to him.

One day after coming back from school, I was changing my dress in my room, then my younger brother came in my room and he said, "Smita didi's health is bad since morning."

I became nervous after hearing this and my heart became restless to meet him. I could not open the dress completely, due to which I put on the dress again and immediately reached her house.

Smita was lying on the bed in the room, beside her mother was placing a cloth soaked in water on her head. His youngest brother was playing with a little blue-yellow plastic cart under the bed.

Aunty, what happened to Smita? ” asked his mother as soon as I reached the room.

"Son, Smita is having fever since this morning."

So you saw the doctor? ,

Yes, son, the doctor has said that there is nothing to worry about. This happened just because of the change of weather. Will get well soon."

I felt relieved after listening to the aunt. It was getting evening, Smita's father was also getting time to come back from office. Aunt asking me to sit on the bed, she herself went towards the kitchen to prepare breakfast for uncle.

During these days Smita's family members and my family members had become very well acquainted.

I, my brother or my mother often used to go to his house there. Those people also used to come and go to my house.

After taking aunty to the kitchen, I sat there on the bed. Smita had closed her eyes. I was sitting on the bed thinking something, then suddenly someone touched my hand. When I saw it was Smita. She was smiling touching my hand.

Hello, how are you? I asked happy seeing her smiling.

"I'm fine now "

" What had happened ? ,

"Don't know." She said pressing my hands.

Till now his fingers were only in touch with mine.

"And how did you come here in school dress?"

"I was just about to change it when I came to know that you are sick, so I came running to meet you," I said in a low voice.

"I was not going to die that much," she laughed.

Seeing the smile on his face, my face also blossomed.,

It was two o'clock in the afternoon. Being the month of June, the heat was high. There was not even a single bird in the streets. Lu was running in the streets. Due to the heat, there were also holidays in the school. Due to which I was at home and was completing my school homework.

At the same time Smita's younger brother came to me and said, "Brother, Smita didi is calling you."

After listening to her brother, I went to meet Smita at her house. And Smita's brother started playing carromboard with my brother in my house.

He is younger than Smita while she has another brother who is also younger than her. He often used to play with my brother. In other words, he had become a friend of my younger brother.

I reached Smita's house. That T.V. But was watching Hrithik Roshan's film "Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai".

She switched off the TV as soon as I reached there. And she gestured me to sit.

"You called me? ,

" Yes . Did you get distracted? ,

No, uncle-aunty are not visible at home? I said scanning the whole house with my eyes.

"Mummy and father have gone to maternal uncle's house. Will probably come back by evening."

“Sit…” He gestured to sit once again.

There was no one in the house except Smita, Smita was alone. Seeing her, my heart was beating fast. I was not able to say anything. Then Smita stood up from the chair and she came close to me.

Why are you shy? She said keeping a distance of 2-3 inches from my lips.

"No, there is no such thing."

I was nervous. His eyes met mine. She came closer to me. Due to which my breath started to swell. I could not understand what should I do. That's why she said I love you in a soft voice.

I could not believe hearing it. I thought I was dreaming. But when he put his hands on my shoulders and kissed my lips with his lips, then I realized that this is not a dream but reality.

I also hugged him saying I love you to. After that day we both became each other's life. Today, five years have passed since that incident, but still our love has not diminished even an iota. To the extent that our love is increasing day by day.

Presently we both are doing B.tech from the same college in Gwalior and are very happy. We are about to tie the knot after both of us finish our studies. We have started seeing its dreams from now itself.
