6) When a head of state or dignitary passes away or when a funeral is held with national honours, the tricolor may be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect during mourning.
Amendments to the Flag Code of India
As per the earlier Flag Code of India, machine made and polyester flags were not allowed. In the amendment to the Flag Code of India on 30 December 2021, apart from cotton, wool, silk and khadi, polyester hand-woven or machine-made flags were also allowed to be used.
It was also mentioned earlier that the flag should be displayed only from sunrise to sunset, irrespective of weather conditions. Another amendment was made on 20 July 2022 under the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. According to which now it is allowed to hoist the national flag at home day or night.
