Preface

Tours, trips, picnics and excursions are very common. Traveling by train or bus is a lot of attraction for most of us. It gives us a chance to see new places and the most interesting people.

A train journey certainly gives an occasion for a splendid pleasure. Moreover, train travel fills individuals with a sense of intense excitement. This mode of travel is best when the distance to travel is long. A train journey creates an aura that cannot be experienced with other forms of travel.

Railways have always played an important role in the economic progress of the country. Maximum income of our country comes from this sector. Railways determine the path of progress of every country. Being very cheap and comfortable than other means, people of all walks of life consider it better to travel by it. The work of the poor people of our country cannot be done without it.

my first train journey

I love to travel anywhere by train. By the way, I have done many train journeys since childhood, which is not even present in my memory. My first train journey in my memory was when after 12th I went to Ludhiana with my elder sister for my summer vacation.

This journey was the most memorable journey of my life. Even after that I went on many trips but that thrill never came. My elder brother was also going with me, my sister had already booked tickets for both of us, my journey from Varanasi to Ludhiana was going to be very exciting. The journey from Varanasi to Ludhiana takes approximately 16-17 hours. I had prepared a lot of food items for my journey.

We were about to leave by Jammu Tawi Express, the departure time of our train was probably 3 pm, we reached the railway station at 2 pm. Our train also left on time. Before Varanasi reached Jaunpur, then Prayagraj, Kanpur, Agra, New Delhi and reached Ludhiana the next day around 12 noon. My sister and brother-in-law had already arrived at the station, they were overjoyed to see us.

my train travel experience

My college closed for summer vacation on 10th June and I decided to move to Delhi. My elder brother lives there. He invited me to spend a few days with him. So I packed my bags and went to the railway station on my scooty. My father had come to see me off. We reached the station in time. I was horrified to see the long queue for tickets there. We had already reserved the tickets. So I heaved a sigh of relief.

People of all castes and creeds were seen there. Secular India was visible there. The train arrived on the platform. People were running up and down to get a seat. The coolies were busy helping the passengers. The hawkers were shouting at the top of their voices. There was a big crowd. My father pushed me forward and I took my seat. Papa put my luggage in the box. Soon the train started. I bowed down to my father and asked him to leave. Still stood there till the car appeared. As soon as the car started moving, I informed my brother that the car had started.

Soon the train picked up speed. Soon we were passing through lush green fields. The farmers were working in their fields. They were plowing the fields. The shepherds had gone to graze the cattle. The children were saying goodbye (boy) on seeing the moving vehicle. We passed through many small and big cities. The train passed over several bridges. The trees were seen running backwards. The earth seemed to be spinning round. There were clouds in the sky. The scene looked great.

Our train was moving fast. It did not stop at smaller stations. It reached Kanpur. It was night already. Here I called the tea seller and bought tea from him. The movement of people continued even in the night, so there was difficulty in sleeping. Then I got busy watching the movie with headphones in my ears. It stopped at Saharanpur. I didn't even know when my eyes fell and it's morning too. We reached Delhi around 9 am. My brothers were already waiting for me. He warmly welcomed me. Delhi railway station is huge. We took an auto rickshaw and left for home.

Epilogue

Traveling by train is the cheapest and most comfortable. I have always traveled with my parents. But this time was the first experience of traveling alone. Since initially there was a lot of fear and my father also did not want me to travel such a distance alone, of course because of security reasons. True, today's environment is not suitable for girls, yet I resolved to travel like this to overcome my fear. And this journey has been very good and transformative.
