My city is not just the place I live in, it is also an essential part of my identity. Everyone has good memories attached to their city and they always remain a part of one's life. For me my city is a place where I have spent most of my childhood. This is a place I love and want to spend the rest of my life. It is a place that I am attached to.
Preface
I live in Delhi since I was 3 years old and I love this city very much. Life is very fast here, people are full of enthusiasm and the food you get here is very tasty. Delhi, the capital of India, has a historical and beautiful past.
historical past of delhi
The history of Delhi dates back to the 12th century. It is known as one of the oldest inhabited cities not only in India but across the world. Delhi has been ruled by many powerful kings including Ibrahim Lodi, Zahiruddin Muhammad Babur, Sher Shah Suri, Prithvi Raj Chauhan, Qulab-ud-din Aybak, Jalal-ud-din Firoz Khilji, Shah Alam Bahadur Shah I and Akbar Shah II. The city was destroyed and rebuilt several times by different emperors.
It is believed that the Pandavas also lived in this part of the country. The city of Delhi was known by the name Indraprastha during that era. The old fort is said to have been constructed during that time.

Delhi is known for its beautiful monuments. Many magnificent monuments have been established here over the centuries. Many new buildings have been constructed later and they are also very magnificent. Tourists from all over the world have traveled to Delhi to see these monuments. red fort
The Red Fort is one of the oldest monuments in Delhi. The fort made of red sandstone includes various museums. This magnificent piece of architecture was established by the Mughals in the 16th century. The Mughal emperors lived here for almost 200 years.
Humayun's Tomb
It is said that Humayun's Tomb is a replica of the wonderful Taj Mahal. It is made of red sandstone and white marble. The tomb is an example of the Persian style of Islamic architecture. The tomb is 47 meters high and 91 meters wide and is surrounded by a beautiful Persian-style garden.
Lotus Temple
As the name suggests, this temple is built in the shape of a lotus. It has 27 petals made of white marble. It has nine doors that open into the main hall. It has the capacity to accommodate 2500 people at a time. This magnificent building is very big.
Lotus Temple is a house of worship but it is open to people belonging to every religion.
Qutub Minar
Another piece of architectural genius is the Qutub Minar which is made of red sand. It was built by Qutb-ud-din-Aibak. This 73 meter tall building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It consists of five floors connected through crooked staircases.
India Gate
India Gate is another historical monument of the city which attracts many tourists from all over the world. The names of the martyrs are engraved on this memorial. Amar Jawan Jyoti is lit at this memorial which pays tribute to the Indian soldiers.
Akshar Dham Temple
Akshar Dhar Temple is a place of devotion and purity. It is the latest in the list of monuments in Delhi. It was opened to the public in the year 2005. The Akshardham complex includes lush gardens and water bodies, apart from beautifully carved temples and other wonderful buildings.
I have been to all these places and want to visit them again and again. I have beautiful memories of these places.
conclusion
Apart from the historical monuments, many places in Delhi also include markets for shopping around. It can surely give happiness to the shopper. I love visiting different markets which not only give me an opportunity to buy nice things but also give me a chance to enjoy street food. I can't even imagine living anywhere other than Delhi.
