Meaning

The proverb 'Knowledge is power' signifies that the true power that a man can acquire is knowledge. Physical strength has its own limitations but knowledge is what allows you to do great things that you would never have thought of before. The simple meaning of this proverb is that the more knowledge you have, the more you can control the situations.

This is the true power that a person can possess. You can do whatever you want with your life; Do what you want to achieve and earn respect in your life.

Example

Example is the best way to understand the true meaning of any proverb. Keeping this in mind, I have come up with some recent examples based on the proverb 'Knowledge is Power' which will help you understand this proverb better.

“A wise and learned man can ever outwit a giant.” - Indeed, knowledge is power.

“Physical strength can only give you the power to lift things, but knowledge gives you the power to influence people and change their attitudes. That's really the real strength."

“It is only knowledge that earns you a prestigious place in any organization and not your physical strength” – said the manager shouting at his employees.

“Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, etc. were not physically strong, yet they had the power to influence millions – just because of the knowledge they possessed.”

“A king should not only be physically strong but also wise and knowledgeable because knowledge is power.”

Produce

The saying 'knowledge is power' is attributed to Sir Francis Bacon, an English philosopher, and statesman who also served as Attorney General of England.

It must be noted that this line of proverb is not found in any of Bacon's writings. In fact, in one of his Latin writings entitled Meditationes Secre (1597), a phrase appears – "ipsa scientia potestas est" which roughly translates into English as 'knowledge itself is a power'. comes

Even a phrase similar to this saying appears in the book Leviathan, written by Thomas Hobbes, who served as Bacon's secretary. In his work, Thomas wrote 'scientia potestas est', which in English translates to 'Knowledge is power'.

Since then this saying became popular everywhere and started being used and from time to time it was shown by many publishers and great novelists. Apart from this, another proverb similar to this 'wisdom is power' was also widely used.

extension of the proverb

This proverb 'Knowledge is power' tells that knowledge is the true and real strength of a person and not his physical strength nor his weapons. The power that is gained on the strength of knowledge is forever; Whereas physical strength ends after some time.

Understand it this way – can you fulfill your dreams on the basis of your physical strength? Not sure! Whatever it may be, to fulfill your dreams, you have to acquire the knowledge of that particular field. If you want to become a doctor then you have to do a lot of studies. Why does a doctor need his physical strength to save someone's life? In fact, no matter how frail the doctor may seem, he is definitely stronger than a bodybuilder.

Wisdom here refers to wisdom – your intelligence and ability to use your brain instead of your limbs. It refers to a display of wisdom rather than physical strength. Power, in this case, does not mean physical power that we use to move things from one place to another, but, rather, the power to make a difference in someone else's life; In society or in your own life. In fact it would be true power and can only be achieved through knowledge.

Importance

The saying 'Knowledge is power' is very important, especially for students who need to understand the true value of knowledge. It teaches them that knowledge is the only thing they can use in their life, but not physical strength.

Today students are exposed to many things, many people and they have the keys to everything they want. It can be normal for a child or even an adult to feel proud or powerful by holding a gun. This proverb clearly refutes such an attitude and exhorts to achieve true power, only through knowledge.

With a gun, you can only threaten or kill someone, but with knowledge, you can change their whole life, and not just theirs, but your own as well. This proverb is very important as it teaches people the true power of knowledge.

Short Stories on 'Knowledge is Power'

As I have been telling earlier also that story is a better medium to understand the moral quality of a proverb. Today I have brought some stories for you so that you can understand the meaning of the proverb 'Knowledge is power' more correctly.

Short Story

Once upon a time in a remote village of India, there was a very thin, poor boy, whose name was Raju. Her father was a farmer, who could barely afford to pay her government school fees. But Raju had a fearless spirit towards his studies. He even worked hard in his studies and was a good student, but everyone used to taunt him because of his skinny body and poor family.

His classmates used to look down on him and weak. Because of this, Raju also used to get depressed, but he persevered as he had a hope that one day he would prove everyone wrong. He had complete confidence in himself and his knowledge. He knew that one day, with the knowledge he had, he would show everyone that he was the strongest kid in the class.

With a desire to prove everyone wrong, Raju studied harder, too hard in fact. He prepared for the All India Medical Entrance Exam and made it to the top 10 ranks. It was an extraordinary success for the son of a poor farmer. Now there was something that changed very quickly. All those classmates of Raju who used to call themselves more powerful than him suddenly started becoming weak.

Even in spite of all the opulence and wealth, he started feeling weak and inferior to Raju. Why? Because, Raju had the power of knowledge and somewhere in his mind also it was said that knowledge is the real power.

The mechanic came, he looked at every part of the engine, applied grease etc all over his hand but could not find a solution to the problem. upset and angry; The captain called for the engineer, but unfortunately, after several hours of trial, he too was finally unable to start the engine. After so much time, the captain became very angry and scolded the mechanic and engineer for their incompetence. Everyone felt utterly helpless in the face of this problem.

Left with no choice, the captain called for the oldest and most experienced supervisor, who had retired and was now looking after the mess. The old supervisor looked at the engine and let out a long sigh, and went to his room. With only one hammer he came back, entered the engine room again, and struck only one hammer at a particular spot on the engine. To everyone's surprise, the engine roared once again. The knowledge that the old retired supervisor had acquired throughout his life gave him the strength to steer this giant ship adrift in the middle of the ocean, which no one else could – indeed, knowledge is power.
