Alif Laila Story - Story Of The Tailor In Front Of The King Of Kashgar |
After the story of the Jewish doctor was over, the tailor asked the king for permission to tell his story. The emperor of Kashgar nodded allowing him to tell the story.
As soon as he got permission from the king, the tailor said that a businessman in this city had invited me to eat at his house. That's why I came here. That businessman had called many of his friends along with me. His house was full of people and everyone was chatting happily. I looked around, but the merchant who had invited me home was nowhere to be seen. I sat and waited for him for some time. Only then saw that the businessman was coming from outside with one of his friends. His friend was quite happy, but he didn't have a leg. Both of them came and sat in the middle of everyone. I also greeted the businessman and asked him about his well being.
Then suddenly that lame person stood up from there and started going out of the house. The merchant who invited everyone said, "Hey, friend, where are you going? No one has even eaten food yet, you can't just go without eating food. He said that I do not belong to this state and I do not want to die living here. There is such a person in your house, on seeing whom everything spoils. Then the businessman asked whom is he talking about? The lame man said that there is a barber here. I cannot stay where this barber will be, so all of you can have dinner together but I cannot stay here.
Everyone again asked that lame person what happened after all. After asking many times he said look, I have faced a lot of problems in my life because of this man. I have also become lame because of this barber. From then on I made up my mind that I would never see the face of this barber and would never stay where this man was. It was because of this barber that I had to leave my city Baghdad. I thought that this barber had lost his way, but this man reached here too.
First it broke my leg and now it will probably kill me, so I can't stay here a moment longer. Now I have to leave this place like Baghdad. I cannot tolerate this person even for a minute. Having said this, the lame man again started going out of the main door of the merchant's house. The merchant ran after him to stop him. Seeing the businessman running away, we also followed the lame man and tried to stop him, but he was not ready to listen to anyone.
That's why the businessman got an idea. He went out with that person and told him lovingly that you are my dear friend and if you leave like this, I will feel bad. If you want to leave this place like Baghdad, then go. Just now you go to my other house and have food. I will bring you the same food and feed you with all due respect. He agreed to the merchant and went to another house and had food.
After eating the food, the merchant brought it to the same place where we were all sitting together. All of us had also eaten food. Seeing the merchant and the lame man, everyone went to him. The man said hello to everyone and asked permission to go, but no one allowed the lame man to leave. Everyone told him that you have come here and told us that whatever happened to you happened because of the barber. We feel bad for you, but we all want to know the story behind this. After all, what happened that you lost your legs.
That lame man said that I do not want to stay in front of this barber even for a minute. Still everyone asked him to tell his story again and again. Worried, he said that if I told you my story, you would all be sad. Still, if you all want me to tell my story, I'll turn my back to this barber and tell my story. Everyone accepted his words.
After this the lame man started telling the story of his broken leg. To know this story read the second part of the story.
